Purpose of Position:

The primary function of this job is the facilitation and execution of repair, replacement, and fabrication of tooling and ancillary press equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, clean, maintain and repair injection and transfer molds. Performs insert changes as needed. Assemble/Disassemble and final fitting of molds.
  • Machine various mold details using manual mills, surface grinders preferred.
  • Responsible for tool organization including location, tracking, and setting up molds.
  • Participate in weekly tooling status review meetings with In-House Tool Maker team.
  • Responsible for technical support to manufacturing, process engineering, automation, and maintenance.
  • Conduct mold inspection and repair as needed.
  • Help manage spare part components in inventory system to ensure critical components are available.
  • Contribute to design modifications and improvement efforts on existing equipment to achieve increased efficiency and improve quality.
  • Ability to operate electronic and manual measuring equipment.
  • Use of forklift and hoisting equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an applicable technical position.
  • Injection molding and/or injection press experience preferred as well as proficiency in all aspects of equipment operation for injection mold presses, transfer presses, and all related secondary equipment which includes material pumps, chillers, and temperature control units.
  • Mold building and/or tool maker experience a plus
  • Prior experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications:

  • CNC Machining (desired)
  • Set-up of tooling and workpiece
  • Strong math and reasoning skills
  • Experience with common forms of inspection equipment and appreciation of close tolerance manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondences and make sound decisions based upon the information.
  • Ability to write complex memorandums to communicate to customers.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to walk steps between the floors in the building regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING ENVIROMENT:

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
